Academic Network Article of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Hydraulic Association: a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and lead at the XXXI Regional Assembly.
AIHR Executive Committee
We are pleased to announce that our colleague, Luis E. Mora M., has been appointed as a member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Hydraulic Association (AIHR) during the XXXI Regional Assembly, representing Venezuela with motions of support from assembly members.
In addition, Dr. Luis Mora proposed the creation of a Latin American Academic Network for Research, Development, and Innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to Water Resources. This motion received special backing from Dr. José Gilberto Dalfré Filho, from the State University of Campinas, Brazil; and president of the Latin American Hydraulic Association.
The initiative aims to exchange experiences, support, and validate Research and Development and Innovation projects in the academic centers of the region. Initially, it will focus on two major axes: Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (such as ChatGPT, among others).
In this regard, initial contacts have already been established with Dr. Luis Javier Montoya Jaramillo, director of the Water Quality and Hydrological Modeling Research Group (GICAMH) at the University of Medellín, Colombia, and with Dr. Héctor Daniel Farías, secretary of the Latin American Hydraulic Association and professor at the National University of Santiago del Estero (UNSE), Argentina, and Dr. Luis E. Mora M., who leads the initiative and belongs to the Inter-American Center for Environmental and Territorial Research at the University of Los Andes (CIDIAT-ULA) and also belongs to our organization, leading the aspects related to water resources.
